A first edition of Mirrors by the Egyptian and Nobel Prize winning author Naguid Mahfouz. The book is a collection of short character portraits drawn from the narrator’s life, each accompanied by an illustration from Seif Wanli. The biographies range from criminals to high ranking officials and intellectuals, each one, in their own way, reflecting modern Egyptian society, history and politics, the narrator, each other and subsequently universal humanity.
